I'm sorry for your loss. I interviewed your dad for a story in Peninsula Pulse a few years ago. Such a pleasant fellow with an interesting story to tell. It was a privilege to get acquainted with him.

Our condolences to Joe's family at this sad time. So glad you were able to give him the wonderful parting gift of passing in the comfort of what was home for so many years.
We have been enjoying the cottages for over 30 years with friends, children, then grandchildren. We have so many really precious memories that were made at the place that was so close to Joe's heart.
We always looked forward to our chats with Joe. He was a very special guy and, with so many others, we will truly miss him.
We wish you peace and all the best memories.

My sympathy at the loss of your Dad. But I believe it was a blessing and he's finally home with Melda. I think all of us that grew up in Jacksonport and knew all our neighbors were truly blessed. Your parents where wonderful people. Your Dad is the last original resident of a great time to have been part of this community. Trust and believe that he is truly happy now and you'll seem him again someday. Hold onto your faith. Sue (Brungraber) Weber

Joe was a unique individual and we will miss him. We stayed in the cottages every June and August over the years and always enjoyed visiting with Joe. His positive attitude and happy demeanor combined with his life time of experiences and common sense approach was truly remarkable. Joe enjoyed life and appreciated the importance of the daily events including the happiness of being with people, conversations, good food, and petting a dog. It will not be the same going back to the cottages without Joe there.

What a guy! Heaven opened its doors for a great man! Uncle Joe will be missed and was loved by so many people. He was such a kind, gentle person and at the same time, was as tough as nails. The memories of many visits with him and hearing him tell stories of being one of 9 LeClair children along with serving in WWII are a treasure. His sense of humor and memories of his incredible work ethic will always make me smile! Take care David, Jimmy, Joey, JoAnne and Shelly and family!
