I met Cheryl for the first time in 1967 in Ontonagon. She and I were both on a new path, and we became fast friends. She traveled to Boston to visit me, and I went to Washington,D.C. when she worked with the FBI. We both became the women we were meant to be, and I know how much family meant to her. After her liver transplant, she was a great support to me as my husband waited for his donor liver, and no one was happier than Cheryl when he got it. I can only pray that she is at peace. God Bless, my friend.

Deepest sympathy to all of the family. Cheryl was a neighbor when we were growing up in Ontonagon. We had a nice visit after I moved back to Ontonagon a few years ago, and then saw each other periodically when she would come to Ontonagon. I will truly miss those brief visits. they were never long enough. She was a wonderful person and a kind and brave soul. There is now another angel in Heaven.

The first time I meet you I thought who in the world is this woman that I'm spending 4days with in Minnesota? The first night you were on your phone at midnight talking with your husband and kids. By the end of our quilting retreat we were friends and had many laughs together. I looked forward to seeing you every year after that. It's been a awhile but I'll cherish the times we had together. You will be missed. Gods peace to your family.

Dear Bob & Family: I was lucky to know Cheryl a better part of 5 years while in STB from 96 - 00. She make everything easy and was always kind to everyone. I reveled in hearing all of the family stories of trips, friends and experiences. We kidded Bob about being from the UP but that's what made Bob and Cheryl so personable. Bob loved Cheryl so much it was infectious. I thought it was cool to "light a candle" on this page but no candle was needed when Cheryl was a 1,000W beacon.

The deepest of sympathy for Bob & family. It has been many years since I last saw Cheryl, but when I did it was like no time had passed, We had wonderful memories growing up. There were sleep overs, time at the beach and on the ski hill.

There was a time I will never forget. We were both on ski patrol, and we called to bring a toboggan down W-2 to get a young boy who was off the trail with a broken leg. We headed to the toboggan & some one had thought it would be a great idea to put tar on the bottom. So the two of us pulled with all our strength to get it out of it's shed. We finally got it out and on the bottom was at least one foot of snow. The only time it moved on it's own was going downhill. The boy was well off the trail and the snow wasn't packed, making the toboggan even heavier. We both pulled off our skies and made our way though the deep snow to find a little boy laying in the snow. His knee was going one way and his foot the other. All we knew is we needed to put the boys leg into a splint. I held the boys foot and Cheryl tightened the splint. We lifted him into the toboggan and head to the Chalet through the deep snow, finally to be met by more fellow patrols. It was really rough for us, but we made it and Cheryl never complained one time about the difficulty. Later we were paged to the Patrol Room, of course there comes a little fear of what did I do wrong. We were informed that the Dr. had called and wanted us to pull all the broken legs off the hill, because we had set the compound fracture that he had, and it had never happened before.

May God Bless you all with his love, light & healing during this time of loss.

I knew Cheryl when we were kids. She lived next door to Tom and Genevieve Lockhart (my Aunt and Uncle). We visited Ontonagon (my mom's hometown) many summers and Cheryl would play with the Lockhart boys and I. She was a nice person and they mentioned her to me over the years. Condolences to all of her family and friends. I can tell she was very loved.

Bob and family ~ my deepest sympathy. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you close this chapter of life. May the vibrance Cheryl gave to your life carry you through the difficult times ahead. Cheryl is at peace after years of challenge yet I know just thinking of her will always bring a warm smile to your face. I happened to run into Cheryl within the last couple of years in WalMart in Houghton. She recognized me and we had an opportunity to catch up just a bit before she needed to catch up with friends 😊 Your dedication to her as hers to you is a gift. Blessings to the Lackie family.
