Bonnie "Toots" (nee Champeau) Schroeder

Bonnie “Toots” Schroeder, 72 years, of Sturgeon Bay, was called Home to Heaven Monday, January 4, 2016, while at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.

She was born Bonita Ann Champeau on March 29, 1943, in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late Oliver and Iva (Bridenhagen) Champeau. Bonnie graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1961. On October 26, 1963, she married Paul Gilbert Schroeder at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. Toots had worked for Doerr Electric and later Emerson Motors until its closing at which time she went to work for the Sturgeon Bay Walmart until 2013. She had a great sense of humor that was mixed with a tough and strong, yet caring and charitable woman. Toots loved animals and always had a dog in her home. Her Lhasa Apso and faithful friend, Max, survives. She especially loved being with her grandchildren, children, and family. Toots was also accomplished at knitting, a hobby she very much enjoyed.

She will be missed by her three children, Tom (Holly) Schroeder of Algoma, Jill (Michael Dye) Schroeder of Pittsboro, IN, Todd (Jennifer Fameree) Schroeder of Brussels; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Nicholas, Mackenzie, Adrianna, Riley; two brothers, John “Jack” Champeau of Sturgeon Bay, Thomas Champeau of Saukville; numerous nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Oliver “Buck” Champeau; two sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Weidman, and Mary Soyring.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Fr. Robert Stegmann officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church, Tuesday morning, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Memorials may be given in her memory.
