Rita Terry Stapp

     Rita Terry Stapp, 91, of Sturgeon Bay, formerly of California, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at Ministry Door County Medical Center following a short illness.

     She was born December 7, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY to Max and Rose (Dubow) Macoff. Rita enlisted with the United States Navy after two years of college and served as a photographer. She owned and operated various businesses in California and Door County. Rita was a renowned clothing designer for celebrities in San Francisco, CA where she owned several retail clothing businesses for 45 years. She worked well into her 80’s and returned to Sturgeon Bay a few years ago to be near her daughter, Abbey Struck and her family.

     Rita enjoyed photography, makeup and fashion, poetry, and reading self-help books. One of her favorite authors was Helen Girlie Brown whom she corresponded with throughout her life. Rita was forever young at heart and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren

     She will be deeply missed by her three children, John (Susan) Stapp of San Rafael, CA (and their children, Kate and Chris); Abbey (Mark) Struck of Sturgeon Bay (and their daughters, Markie (Jake) Bscherer and Halie Struck); Joshua Stapp of San Rafael, CA (and his daughter, Blaire Stapp).

     Rita was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Shevon Stapp; and her sister, Addie Tepper.

     No public service will be held. Rita’s memory will live on in the lives of all those who knew her.
