Barb, Heather and Meredyth and Family so sorry to hear about the best Colonel that I ever worked for in the US Army. COL Lawrie was one of those great leaders that didn't need his rank to make things happen. He dominated every situation and rarely spoke while he was moving everyone forward. I should have maintained better contact with y'all after Alaska but the Netherlands, Round Rock Texas and kids and grandchildren have diverted me. I last talked to the Colonel when visiting the University of WI in Madison with Professor Betsy in 2017. I couldn't leave the Madison area at that time. I promised to visit when I was next in WI which I will be in May 2020... While looking up his phone number I discovered the sad news... For me he will always be one of the greats that I knew in the US Army. I will be staying overnight at Ft Meyer this Thursday and Friday and will visit his grave.

Thank you so much for your kind remarks. There isn’t a day that goes by that he does not cross our minds and we think about him and miss him terribly. I would love to know more about you and how you worked together with my dad. Thank you so much for your condolences. If you ever visit Arlington National Cemetary, please pay him a visit.

My best friend and oldest friend is gone. It is still hard to believe he and I will not be able to have our monthly talks. It was such an honor for me to speak at his funeral. He was a man of courage. integrity and had unending loyalty to his family and friends. Each day since his left us, I have thought of him and prayed for him. He will always be part of my life and some day I hope o see him again and say "Colonel, it is so good to see you again. He will say back to me, Sergeant Major welcome aboard We have lots to talk about". May God have mercy on my dear friend

I am Tim's nephew. Along with my wife Barb, we are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of Uncle Tim. Uncle Tim was and will always remain a true patriot; a man who gave his utmost best for the defense of his country. A man that others looked up to, respected, and wanted to be like. He set an example in life that made you feel proud and privileged to know him. Uncle Tim was also a very successful entrepreneur and family man. His love for business, my Aunt Barb, his daughters Heather & Meredyth, grandchildren, and other nieces/nephews truly typified who he was. We will miss you Uncle Tim. May God bless you and keep you dear Uncle.

Message from Colonel Detrick "Dee" L. Briscoe

Because of brave and noble Soldiers like COL (Retired) Lawrie, we can all enjoy the freedom that we cherish so much. Martin Luther King Jr.,once stated: the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands in times of challenge and controversy.” COL Lawrie excelled during the tough times, in combat he was a role model for all to follow. He consistently provided the leadership and support his fellow Soldiers needed no matter how difficult the circumstances. I thank God for brave men like COL (Retired) Lawrie. Because of his willingness to serve a cause greater than himself, we all have the chance to enjoy freedom. My thoughts and prayers are with the Lawrie Family during their time of sorrow. Sir, RIP with must love and respect.

Dear Barbara and family,
Wendy, Dylan and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this time of loss. I can not imagine the loss you are all going through as I know how close all of you are. Tim was a great husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law to all of you. During my conversations with Tim he always mentioned how proud of his family he was. Support each other in this time of loss. I had the honor to be accepted as a friend to your entire family and I will never forget Tim's sense of humor and straight conversations.

Message from Terry & Dellrose Kovarik
August 15, 2017 2:08 PM

We will always treasure our relationship with Tim. It started on a business level when the second Gulf War started. He provided insights and opinions on the battle anytime it was needed. It then became a great friendship. Most times when Terry would interview him at the winery Tim would offer a glass of wine, which Terry had to decline being on duty. But we all raised a glass or two of wine on the Sunday open houses when customers and just about everybody else swarmed to the winery. Chances are you'd meet friends there you hadn't seen in awhile or in some cases were meeting for the first time. And then there was the opportunities when Tim would strap on the guitar and jam with the guest musicians. That was a sight to behold and the visitors always cheered in appreciation. We will always treasure our last visit with Tim during a Sunday get together. People came and had fun, the wine flowed and, to watch him, all was right with the world. A fine solider, business man, family man and friend has gone on to a well deserved rest. If the world had a few more men like Tim Lawrie, the world would be a safer and calmer place. God bless Tim and his family.
