Donald Hugh Biemeret, 82, of the Town of Egg Harbor, fell asleep in the loving arms of his family at home and awoke in the arms of the Lord, Friday afternoon, April 28, 2017.

He was born August 18, 1934 in Green Bay, the son of Gabriel and Ione (Wallenfang) Biemeret. Don graduated from East High School. He served his county in the Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in August 1958. Don was united in marriage to June Marie Vertz on August 23, 1969 in Green Bay. They were blessed with over 47 years of marriage.

Don was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Egg Harbor (now Stella Maris Parish-Egg Harbor site). He was always willing to help June with her Cemetery duties.

Don will be deeply missed by his wife, June; three sons, Steve (Gigi) of Grand Prairie, TX, Mark of Lake Worth, FL, and Scott (Sonya) Egg Harbor, WI; eight grandchildren, Joshua Biemeret, Green Bay; Joy (Matt) Crowe, Oshkosh; Eric (Angie) Biemeret, River Falls; Nicole (Arturo) Perez, Cibolo, TX; Holly Biemeret, Dallas, TX; Hope Biemeret, Austin, TX; and Hannah and Holder Biemeret, Lubbock, TX; and nine great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister and two brothers, Sarah “Sally” Knaus of Ashwaubenon, Robert (Sue) Biemeret of Green Bay, and Gabriel (Mae) Biemeret of Watersmeet, MI; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel, Sr. and Ione Biemeret; son, Daniel; parents-in-law, Cyril and Helen Vertz; sister, Jacqueline Wagnitz; brother-in-law, Leland Vertz; and sister-in-law, Janice (Ervin) Blank.

His greatest joy was having his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and anyone who cared to listen, gather around him to sing his unending number of songs or do his magic by picking quarters from behind little ones’ ears. Don’s love for the outdoors was prevalent by his enjoyment of fishing, “mowing de lawn,” and sitting on the front porch swing. He enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, and Bucks. Don’s granddogs, Penny and Shelby, will have to do without the tidbits he would sneak them thinking no one noticed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Stella Maris Parish-Egg Harbor site with Fr. David Ruby as celebrant. Don will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Cemetery with full military honors by the United States Air Force and Weber-Tess AMVETS Post 51.

Family and friends may call at the church, Thursday morning, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Stella Maris Parish, Unity Hospice, or the Door County Humane Society.
