Yvonne Caroline Dietz, age 83 of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Pete and Jelaine Horton Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born on September 27, 1941, to the late John and Louise (Bijold) Staxrud in Barnum, MN.
Yvonne was a 1959 graduate of Barnum High School. After high school, she attended the University of Minnesota where she met the love of her life, Robert Dietz. The couple was united in marriage on September 1, 1962, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Barnum. Yvonne and Bob were blessed with four children, Jeffrey, John, Micheline, and Monique. Over the years, Yvonne spent her time working in the medical field. She worked in medical records and did secretarial work for an orthopedic surgeons' group.
Yvonne enjoyed the arts, both visual and musical. Yvonne and Bob enjoyed each other's company while taking in a philharmonic or symphony orchestra in and around the towns where they lived in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She was also supportive of Bob's stained-glass work. Her love for art pulled her to the Door County area. She heard about the robust art scene in Door County, and she knew this is where she should be in her retirement years.
The Dietz family would like to thank the staff at the Pete and Jelaine Horton Skilled Nursing Facility and Unity Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care of Yvonne.
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Jeffrey (Kyoko) Dietz, John (Lori) Dietz, Micheline (Ray) Nunnelly, and Monique (Harry) Heitmeier; grandchildren, August (Setareh), Rachel, Emma, and Hank; brother, Michael Staxrud; and sister-in-law, Bonita Martinson. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Terry Staxrud; and sister, Roberta Staxrud.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be sent to the Pete and Jelaine Horton Skilled Nursing Facility, or alternatively to the Unity Hospice, or to St. Jude's.
