William "Bill" Nels Peterson

William "Bill" Nels Peterson, age 57, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at his home.

He was born to the late George and Bessie (Wilson) Peterson on May 28, 1967, in Egg Harbor and was the youngest of eleven children. Bill graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1985.

Bill lived life to the fullest and was always the life of the party. He was known for his humor and making everyone around him laugh. He was also known for being the best shoulder to cry on. Bill was kind and caring. One of the most selfless men you could meet. He would give you the shirt off his back and then some and would go without if it meant you had what you needed.

Bill spent the better part of a decade taking care of his sister Elaine with Down Syndrome and his mother with Alzheimer's in his home, all while he battled an immuno-compromised illness for 32 years. But his family was everything to him.

Bill is survived by his brothers, Stanley (Darlene) Peterson and Allan Peterson; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews, all of which he cherished and loved like his own children; also including his extended family James McPhee, who was his best friend and soul mate of 30 years.  He is further survived by extended family and friends.

He was preceded by his parents, George and Bessie; brothers, Don, Stanton, and Clarence; sisters, Ethel, Pauline, Elaine, Mary, and Marion; sister-in-law, Sandy; and brothers-in-law, John and Paul.

A celebration of life for Bill will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay.
