Valentina Vakselis

     Valentina K. Vakselis 76, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, WI died unexpectedly near her home in Port Richey, FL on October 21, 2021.

     She was born on September 17, 1945 in Lubcha, Belarus to the late Mihail & Olga Kavtsevich. She moved to the United States (Chicago) in 1979 & then to Sturgeon Bay, WI in 1986. Valentina received her Master's degree in teaching. She worked at St. Norbert College, Premontre and Notre Dame High Schools in De Pere, WI as a Russian teacher. She was a lifelong educator and mom, who dearly loved her family, friends, and students. She enjoyed ethnic cooking, World History, reading, and the outdoors. She was married to Aleksas Vakselis in 1978, who preceded her in death in 1998.

     Survivors include her two sons, Yuri Vakselis, Key West FL, Michael (Christina) Vakselis, Green Bay, WI; and her two grandchildren, Chris (Danielle) Vakselis, Sturgeon Bay and Grant Vakselis (Rylee) of Great Falls, MT.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Mihail & Olga Kavtsevich; brothers, Seva and Yarusha Kavtsevich; and most recently her sister, Alina Prankevich all of Belarus.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday November 2, 2021 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Burial will follow at Bayside Cemetery.

     Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
