Susan graduated from South Shore High School and received her undergraduate degree at Millikin University in Decatur, IL in Elementary Education. She taught at Crystal Lake, IL in 1963 and would meet and marry the teacher across the hall in June of 1965, Jack Anderson at the South Shore Swedish Club. She and Jack were married for 61 years. During Susan's teaching career she taught third, fourth and fifth grades. She also served in central office as administrator of curriculum as well as the learning center director in her final years of teaching.
Sue and Jack owned a summer home in Gills Rock, Door County and together they opened the Jack Anderson Art Gallery there in 1971 to display and sell his watercolor paintings. Eventually they built and opened their art gallery in Sister Bay in 1976. After 23 years Susan left teaching in 1986. In 1999 they sold their original gallery and formally they retired in 2008 to enjoy life, volunteering and to enjoy their many dogs and cats.
Sue actively supported the Miller Art Museum, Northern Door Children's Center, Door County Libraries, Bargains Unlimited, Art Guild, Door County Humane Society, and countless others. Sue was currently serving on the SCAND Board of Directors.
