Sue Godres Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sue Karen Godres, a woman known for her optimism and deep love of her family and friends. Sue, who passed on March 23, 2025 at the age of 82, leaves behind a legacy of warmth and love. She was a devoted wife to Terry, a loving mother to their children, Sara and Matt, and a doting grandmother. Sue will be remembered for her remarkable ability to connect with people, her infectious smile, and her unwavering sense of humor.

Sue was born on November 3, 1942 in Sturgeon Bay to Don and Bernice “Bea” (Robillard) Mathison. In her youth, Sue twirled baton at Green Bay Packer home games. Sue graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1960 before attending UW Whitewater and starting a career as a legal secretary. October 1, 1966 she married Terry Godres and they move to Florida where Sue continued working until welcoming her children. In the winter of 1979 Sue moved from sunny Sarasota back to her hometown to raise her family. She worked at Sevastopol School many years and was known for serving on their Artists Showcase Committee as well as helping to organize the annual spaghetti dinner for the Door County Century Ride.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Godres of Sturgeon Bay; daughter, Sara (Brian) Godres-Tomes of Sturgeon Bay; son, Matt (Honneli) Godres of De Pere; eight grandchildren, Brianna Tomes of Sturgeon Bay, Tyler Tomes of Green Bay; Miranda (Giacomo) Impastato of De Pere, Hailey Godres of Green Bay, Kaileigh Godres of Kaukauna, Eli, Bodie, and Stella Godres of De Pere; and eight great-grandchildren, Blake, Lincoln, Preston, Oaklynn, Sapphire, Inayah, Ellie, and Laila; and sister-in-law, Jan Godres.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Margaret Godres; sister-in-law, Patricia Stillings; brother-in-law, Dick Stillings, and brother-in-law, Ross Godres.

Funeral Services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025 at Bay View Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay with Pastor Jeff Greathouse officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service at 11:30 a.m.
