Ruth Mikels Obituary

Ruth Edna Mikels, age 72, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay.

She was born on April 20, 1952, to the late Albert and Ruth (Hoffner) Eckert, in Door County.

Ruth was united in marriage to Donald A. Mikels on April 13, 1970, at the Door County Courthouse. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2021.

Ruth worked as a caregiver at Cardinal Ridge and Anna's Hleathcare (currently Bayview Senior Living).

Ruth enjoyed going to concerts and other live music events. Her favorite genre was Rock and Roll and her favorite band was Little Cisco. Watching music events was not the only thing Ruth enjoyed, she also enjoyed going clothing shopping and her favorite store was Ross. Most recently she enjoyed spending time with her significant other, Craig, at his blacksmith shop. Most of all she loved spending time with her daughter, Heather and her extended family.

The Mikels family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Unity Hospice and the staff in the medical and surgery department of Door County Medical Center.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Heather Mikels; siblings, Jerry (Shelly) Eckert and Liz Mencheski(significant other, Mark Vanhan); and Ruth's significant other, Craig Thompsen. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Donald.

Following Ruth's wishes, no public services will be held.
