Ruth Fish, 96, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on May 26, 2024 at her home in Sturgeon Bay, surrounded by her family.
She was born September 21, 1927 in Algoma, WI, the daughter of Frederick and Anna (Gleichner) Wierschke. Ruth attended Algoma High School and graduated with the class of 1945.
On June 14, 1947, she married Bernard Fish. They were married for 49 years and lived in Sturgeon Bay. Ruth worked in the medical field for 43 years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary. Ruth enjoyed country music, knitting, gardening, baking, chicken dinners, dancing, travel, riding in the Ford Model T, motorcycle rides, and most importantly, her husband and having her family around.
Ruth will be missed by her three sons, Larry Fish, Steve (Brenda) Fish, and Mike (Judy) Fish; two daughters, Beverly (Steve) Eckert and Judy (Jeff) Clark; eight grandchildren, Jason Fish (Jenn Bacon), Bryan Fish, Amy Dunham, Michael Eckert, Stefanie Lindstrom, Sarah Clark, Marissa Fish, and McKenzie Fish; six great-grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Levi, Oliver, Adler, and Avery; daughter-in-law, Barb Fish; and one surviving sister, Joyce Clark of Forestville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie; son, Wayne Fish; her parents; and sisters, Verna Sperber and Delores Clark.
Ruth's life will be honored with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Matthew Rappl officiating. She will be laid to rest in St Joseph Cemetery in Town of Sevastopol.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Visitation will continue at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the family for memorials to Ruth’s favorite charities.
