Roy Gauger Obituary

Roy F. Gauger 91 years of Fish Creek, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus at his home the 9th month, 19th day, 2025 with his loving family near.

He was born the 9th month, 30th day, 1933 at the family home of his parents, Franklin W. and Agnes W. (Johnson) Gauger.

Roy lived his entire life on the family homestead with the exception of his two-year service to his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. Upon his return, Roy farmed the homestead with dairy cows, growing crops of corn, hay, wheat and oats. He had worked at Milwaukee Shoe Company for 15 years until its closing. Roy also operated his own lawn care service in northern Door County, retiring in 2005.

On July 20, 2001 he married Judith (Havranek) Strava at Gibraltar Zion United Methodist Church, Fish Creek.

He was a lifelong member of Gibraltar Zion UMC where he served as bell ringer for 45+ years and treasurer for 19 years. Roy also served on the church cemetery and grounds committees. He enjoyed woodworking, reading and gardening.

Surviving family includes his wife, Judith of Fish Creek; two step-children, Duane (Jodi) Strava of Peoria, AZ, and Margaret (Matt) Strong of Aeneas Valley, WA; step-granddaughter, Kristina (Jonathan) Pennington; step-great-grandson, Jameson Pennington; sister, Violet Skippon of Sturgeon Bay; sister-in-law, Marilyn Gauger of Algoma; brother-in-law, Donald (Pat) Havranek of Scottsdale, AZ; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank and Agnes Gauger; step-grandson, Justin Strava; brother, Eugene Gauger; sister, Marcella (Gay) Desotelle; sister-in-law, Ruth (Frank) Bellavia; brothers-in-laws, Frank Bellavia, Gay Desotelle, and Kenneth Skippon; and nephew, Sam Skippon.

Private family graveside services will be held at Zion UMC Cemetery.
