Rosemary Weckler Obituary

"Mom and dad had celebrated 50 years of married life in 2004, and then on November 15, 2004, she lost her beloved husband, our father. We were all there beside his bed and watched him go home. We saw the pain in her face, and we knew just how much she will miss him, but she knew she had to be strong for the rest of the family. Now she will be at peace again knowing she will be joining dad in her new home with our blessed Father above and all her family and friends who went before her."

Rosemary Julia Weckler, 90, of Sturgeon Bay, was called Home to be with the Lord, late Thursday night, January 22, 2026 at the Pete and Jelaine Horton Skilled Nursing Center.

She was a dependable, loyal hard-working, and loveable woman.

Rosemary was born at home above the family tavern in Duvall, Town of Red River, in Kewaunee County on February 27, 1935, the daughter of George Frank Romdenne, Sr. and Anna (Swoboda) Romdenne. She grew up helping on the family farm located off County Road S. Rosemary attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Casco and graduated from Casco High School with class of 1954.

She was united in marriage to Grant Hans Weckler on June 12, 1954 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay where she remained a member throughout her life. Together, Rosemary and Grant resided in Sturgeon Bay, moving to different neighborhoods over years. They were blessed with eight children: Debra, Thomas, Geneva, Bruce, Bradley, Susan, Todd, and Michael.

Rosemary was initially employed with Santa Rosa Shoe Factory/Milwaukee Shoe Company for 19 years. She went to work for Doerr Electric Emerson Motors as assembler for 17 years until her retirement in 1998. Rosemary went back to work part-time for Evergreen Nursery, while taking care of her husband when he fell ill in 1997.

She enjoyed tending to her fruit and vegetable and flower gardens. Her gardens usually included corn, potatoes, strawberries, and rhubarb; and astilbes, spirea, roses, and peonies. Rosemary also liked putting puzzles together.

"The past 90 years have been filled with many challenges and accomplishments. But all in all, well worth the journey. Thanks for being there. We love you, we'll miss you, and you'll always be in our hearts!

Oh, one more thing, Mom, give Dad a BIG HUG from all of us, and tell him how much we all LOVE and MISS HIM dearly!"

Rosemary's love will live on in the hearts of her family: children, Debra (James) Baudhuin of Casco, Geneva (Dale) Macco of Duvall, Bradley Weckler of the Town of Brussels, Bruce (Bonnie) Weckler, Susan (Richard) Christianson, both of Sturgeon Bay, Todd (Heather) Weckler of Forestville, and Michael Weckler of Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren, Jamie (Angel) Baudhuin, Jason (Cindy Dalebroux) Baudhuin, and Elizabeth (Tom) Crockett, Philip (Alison) Weckler, Sierra Schmeider, and Mikayla Weckler, Shane Macco and Janelle (Doug) Binsfeld, Jessica Weckler, Bruce (Jessica) Weckler and RJ (Amy) Steward, Allen (Samantha) Christianson and Nicole "Nikki" Christianson, Lyle (Angeleana "Angel") Weckler and Randy (Hayley Heindel) Vogel, and Echo Ruggles and Linda (William) Kimpston; beloved great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; Margie (Jerome) Braun of the Town of Nasewaupee and Richard (Becky) Romdenne; brother-in-law, Melvin Malvitz of Sturgeon Bay; nieces and nephews; and other relatives.
