Richard J. McCormick Obituary

     Richard Joseph McCormick, 85 years, of Sturgeon Bay passed away Monday evening, March 14, 2022 at his home with family at his side after a lengthy battle with mesothelioma.

     He was born August 30, 1936 in Randolph, WI, the son of the late Joseph and Anzannetta (Goodman) McCormick. Dick graduated from Randolph High School in 1954 before receiving his degree in Agriculture and Biology from UW Platteville in 1959. He went on to receive his drivers Ed accreditation from the University of Wisconsin in 1962. Dick taught at Sturgeon Bay High School for 32 years.

     On August 13, 1960 he married Gail Ann Gross at Christ the King Catholic Church in Superior, Wisconsin. Together they raised their five children. They enjoyed spending summers at the family cabin in Solon Springs. He was known as a gourmet cook and loved a great Prime Rib.

     Dick was a devout Catholic who was active at his St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay.

     Surviving family include his wife, Gail; five children, Linda (Rod) Scheuer of Mishicot, Laurie (Marc) Bertram of LaCrosse, Richard Jr. (Jennifer) of Cave Creek, AZ, Thomas “Tom” (Ann) of Neshotah, WI, Kelly (Rock) Kostka of Algoma; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dennis (Jane) of Beaver Dam, William (Sharon) of Fall River, Michael (Carol) of Beaver Dam; sisters, Elizabeth (Jim) Kruizinger, Mary (Wayne) White, Nancy (Merv) Schaefer, and Kathy (Tom) Nickel.

     Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph and Anzannetta McCormick; two brothers, Donald, and Robert.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Stegmann officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

     Friends may call Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at the church Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Everyone is invited to pray the rosary at 3:45 p.m. Sunday at Huehns Funeral Home and a parish wake held at 7:00 p.m.
