Renata Erica Popovich

Renata Erica Popovich, 66, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at home on July 13, 2025, following recent health complications.

She was born March 16, 1959 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Voimir "Jim" Popovich and Erica (Henning) Popovich. Renata graduated from Washington High School in the Hegewisch neighborhood of Chicago.

Door County, WI was a place her family had come to know from visiting earlier in her life, and in 1991, she moved to Sturgeon Bay, WI with hopes a starting a new chapter with her sons, Robert and Matthew.

Renata was initially employed at Door County Memorial Hospital and then Pick 'n Save soon after that, both in Sturgeon Bay. For over 30 years, Renata was one of the familiar faces and helpful staff at Pick 'n Save - from greeting customers, to helping organize the kids in attendance for the annual Easter egg hunt, to helping customers troubleshoot the self-checkouts. Grocery aisles and produce merchandising may have changed over the years, but Renata was a constant for the grocery store, its customers, and the community.

She was a hard worker, both at the store and also at home, as she did everything she could to provide for her boys. Those who knew Renata knew how independent she was. She usually wanted to take her things herself, but there was no doubt she loved her family, especially sons and grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by her sons, Robert (Patricia) Cram III of Two Rivers and Matthew (Suzette) Cram of Howey In The Hills, FL; grandchildren, Jack Cram and Sophia, Madeline, and Skylar Cram; brothers, Alexander (Jennifer) Popovich of Lena and Eugene Popovich of Margate, FL; other relatives; and her beloved customers from throughout the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Donna Beaudoin Hamilton.

No public services will be held. Renata will be laid to rest in the columbarium at Bayside Cemetery in the Town of Sevastopol.
