Ramona May (Rappe) Stewart

Ramona May Stewart, 96, of Sturgeon Bay, formerly of Iron River, MI, was called home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday, September 29, 2025 while residing at Bayview Senior Care in Sturgeon Bay.

She was born May 1, 1929 in Barron, WI, the daughter of the late Frederick and Martha (Muecher) Rappe. After becoming a widow in 1963, she later married Roy John Stewart. Roy died in 2015 after a wonderful marriage with Ramona. In 2022, Ramona moved to Sturgeon Bay near to her son as it was harder for her to care for herself.

As a woman of great faith, Ramona was an active member of St. Mark's Ev. Lutheran Church in Iron River, MI and after 2022, St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay.

Ramona loved to be outside, gardening, and fishing. She enjoyed a good game of cards and canning for family and friends.

She will be missed by her six children, Peggy McCarver of Phoenix, AZ, Herb (Cindy) Mount of Sturgeon Bay, Daniel (partner, Michael) Mount of Carnation, WA, Julie (Glen) Meister of Green Bay, Jean (Dennis Krueger) Brown of Luxemburg, Eileen Brown of Kenosha; many dear grandchildren; many, many precious great-grandchildren; and the wonderful blessing of a great-great granddaughter.

Ramona was preceded in death by her husbands; step-daughter, Karen Kehlenbrink; five siblings, Rosemary, Nancy, Ruth, Edward, and Fred; and son-in-law, Denny McCarver.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2025 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Nick Mount officiating. Burial will be in Michigan at Stambaugh Cemetery, Tuesday morning, at 11:30 a.m.

Friends may call at the church Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
