Philip Henrickson Obituary

Philip R. Henrickson, 76, of Mishicot, passed away Monday morning, December 23, 2024, at his home following a lengthy fight with cancer.

He was born into this life in Two Rivers on December 12, 1948, the son of Owen and Melania (Borusky) Henrickson. Phil graduated in 1967 from Washington High School before attending UW Manitowoc and UW Green Bay. He owned and operated his performance sound engineering company, Phil Henrickson Sound.

Phil's professional expertise and talent in electronics and sound engineering would take him throughout the United States where he would work with talented and famous musicians and artists along with well-known orchestras and conductors. Just a few of the artists include John Denver, Johnny Cash, Bob Newhart, Oak Ridge Boy's, Dione Warwick, Andy Williams, President Reagan, Marty Robbins, Mitzi Gaynor, Bob Hope, Merle Haggard, Jerry Lewis, Marty Allen, Peggy Lee, Blood Sweat and Tears, Gladys Knight and the Pips to name only a few. For 32 years Phil traveled across the country providing sound for the vocal jazz group, Five by Design. His orchestral involvement with well over 100 symphony orchestras was just as impressive. Collaboration that included work with Milwaukee Symphony, Portland Symphony, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, Houston and Toronto Orchestras, Utah Symphony, The Kennedy Center, and the highlight of his career, the Boston Pops in 2012.

Locally, Phil's talents were called upon for many churches in the Manitowoc, Appleton, Green Bay, Door and Kewaunee counties, Oshkosh, Waupun, Wautoma, and Winneconne locations to bring a quality of sound for the church's worship services. Civically, and along with public schools and field houses, Phil's engineering of sound and equipment to enhance that experience was a gift shared and sought after by many.

On November 23, 2024, he married Cheryl Ann Pinney in Manitowoc. He was a member of Henry S. Baird Masonic Lodge #174 in Sturgeon Bay, the AASR Valley of Green Bay, and OES Honor Chapter #1.

The surviving family includes his wife, Cheryl Pinney-Henrickson of Mishicot; daughter, Nikki DeGuelle (Kevin) and two grandchildren Maxwell and Isabelle, of Bellevue; brother, Tom (Jeanine) Henrickson of Two Rivers; and many nephews and spouses; his father-in-law, Thomas Pinney of Sturgeon Bay; brother-in-law, Geoff (Sonja) Pinney of Green Bay.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Majel; four siblings, Mary Lou Henrickson, Nancy Orchekowski, Leonard Henrickson, and Kathleen Henrickson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. Matthew R. Knapp Sr. officiating. The burial will be at Bayside Cemetery.
