Peter Francis Wahlen

Peter Francis Wahlen, age 86, of Sturgeon Bay passed away on December 16, 2025, at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay surrounded by family.

Peter was born on May 19, 1939, in Beaver Dam, WI the son of Theodore and Inez (Steiner) Wahlen. He was a 1957 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He completed a post graduate year at Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam in 1959 and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater in 1966. He served in the US Army Reserves from 1962 to 1968. Peter spent his career in banking and accounting. For more than three decades, he operated a business specializing in tax preparation.

Peter was active in Rotary Club, The Elks Club, The Beaver Dam Scholarship Foundation, and the annual Bishop’s Appeal Fund. In his free time, he enjoyed playing bridge and golf as well as spending time with family and friends. Peter had a love of sports. He played football, basketball and ran track in high school.  He loved watching his grandchildren participate in sports and was an avid supporter.

He is survived by Margaret (Jo) Wahlen and their three children, Fred (Lauren Aurelius) Wahlen, Megan (John) Shine, and Susan Wahlen; grandchildren, Jack (Hannah) Shine, and William Shine; great-grandson, Henry Shine; sister, Gloria Waddell; many nieces; nephews; extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Judy Welsch; brother, Ted Wahlen; and granddaughter, Marjorie Aurelius.

A memorial service will be held in the summer.
