Paul Lee Obituary

Paul Lloyd Lee, 78, of Colorado Springs, CO (formerly of the Town of Clay Banks, WI) passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 surrounded by family at his home following a brief battle with cancer.

Paul is survived by two sons, Christopher (Kimberly) Lee of Green Bay, WI and Andy (Julia) Lee of Colorado Springs, older sister Penny (Dan) Krueger of Rhinelander, WI, younger brother Patrick (Jeanine) Lee of Milwaukee, WI, and many extended family members, including cousins, nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind his 10-year-old granddaughter, Sophie.

Paul was born on April 3, 1947 in Appleton, WI, to parents Lloyd J. Lee and Jean E. (Janes) Lee. Born and raised in Appleton, he attended Saint Joseph School before moving to Menomonee Falls, WI as a freshman in high school. He graduated from Menomonee Falls High School in 1965 where he excelled as a basketball player and trumpeter.

Paul graduated from Saint Norbert College in De Pere, WI in 1971, earning a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. As a college student, he was enrolled in the U.S. Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) before being commissioned into the U.S. Army Reserves as a second lieutenant.

Following graduation, he spent his entire career in the field of residential property management, starting with his first job working for the student housing department at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. He was later recruited by Inland Steel Co. to serve as regional manager for subsidiary Remanco, Inc. in Upstate New York, where he made his home in the Village of Honeoye Falls. Paul eventually returned to his native Wisconsin, moving to Milwaukee for a position with Grootemaat Management Corp. He moved to the Town of Delafield, WI in 1983 where he later established his own property management firm in 1988 with a partner - Jankowski, Lee and Associates. After more than a decade as a successful small business owner, he sold his company to - and took a position with - Ogden and Company, Inc. in 2002.

On August 31, 1985, Paul was united in marriage to his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Jill (née Wallschlaeger) at their home in Delafield. The couple met while working together at Grootemaat in 1981 and remained together until Jill's passing in 2018.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed various outdoor activities, including boating, fishing, hunting and annual camping trips to Devil's Lake, as well as golfing, antiquing and gatherings with friends to play Sheepshead, Trivial Pursuit or other games. He loved to read - especially suspense thrillers or historical books - and listen to old time radio shows on Radio Classics. He was a huge sports fan and enjoyed watching every big event from March Madness to the Masters to the Kentucky Derby to the Olympics and everything in between.

In 2003, Paul and Jill moved to Door County, WI, where they enjoyed their tranquil lakefront property in the Town of Clay Banks. Together, they took pleasure in exploring the Door Peninsula, entertaining friends and neighbors on their patio, working in the garden, or birdwatching or ship spotting from their backyard. Paul continued to work in the property management field for another decade, working for Premier Real Estate Management in Sturgeon Bay until his eventual retirement in 2015.

Paul was a proud Wisconsinite through and through - a fan of the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers who enjoyed a good bratwurst, locally sourced cheese from Renard's, and a turtle sundae or scoop of Butter Pecan frozen custard from LeDuc's or Culver's. He always knew which hole-in-the-wall establishment had the best Fish Fry, or which supper club to go to for the best Prime Rib special.

In his later years, Paul enjoyed traveling internationally, including a solo trip to Iceland and a river cruise on the Rhine through the Netherlands, Germany and Austria. He would often spend time in the winter traveling to warm weather destinations with friends, visiting Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama and Saint Lucia over the years.

In May of 2022, Paul moved to Colorado Springs to be closer to his only granddaughter, Sophie. As a proud and adoring Grandpa, he treasured every moment spent together. Regular routines, like picking Sophie up from school and treating her to ice cream at the Caffeinated Cow or watching her tennis lessons, brought him just as much joy as more adventurous excursions like camping trips, family vacations, or trips to the zoo. While in Colorado Springs, Paul also became a part of the pickleball community at the Country Club of Colorado. As an avid player, he enjoyed participating in local leagues and events several times a week and socializing with his pickleball friends.

Paul will forever be remembered as a kindhearted, friendly, generous, caring, trustworthy and thoughtful gentleman, and will be dearly missed as a father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Paul was preceded in death by his father Lloyd (2004), mother Jean (2018), and his wife Jill (2018).

Paul's life will be honored with a memorial service held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 with Rev.
