Nancy Rusch Obituary

Nancy A. (Rockwell) Rusch, 71 years, of Green Bay, formerly of Manitowoc and Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully at home in Howard, on Sunday, April 17, 2022.

Nancy was born November 8, 1950 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late Leo and Doraine “Dode” (Braley) Rockwell. She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1969. Nancy was a talented bar tender in Sturgeon Bay and in Manitowoc for many years who enjoyed the social aspect of that trade, well-armed with a quick wit and unique sense of humor known to be the Rockwell’s. As alcohol could be a hazard of that trade, Nancy combatted that illness and was proud to have been 28 years sober and a member of AA. In true Nancy style and humor, she said 28 years was good, but “I never got a cake”. Christ would become the center of her life and as a Christian even though her health began to fail, she knew she was going home to heaven. With her faith, it was only fitting God called her home on Resurrection Sunday.

It was love at first sight as David was captivated by, as he describe, her “Sophia Loren” eyes during a chance meeting. And on November 2, 1991, she married David Dean Rusch in Las Vegas. They were members of Hope Community Church in Manitowoc. Nancy was a strong-willed woman, fiercely loyal and loving to her children and family, never leaving doubt about where she stood on something or how she felt. She loved and missed her mom and dad after they passed. Both as a young child with her parents and brothers, whom she loved, and as an adult with her husband, Nancy loved camping and traveling. Nancy’s grandchildren, children and husband were her world. Her best friends meant everything to her and their children were treated like her own. Nancy loved all of her “brats”. She loved watching Hallmark movies, traveling, especially to Branson, MO, and Savannah, GA.

Survivors include her husband, David; two children, Paulette Madden of Green Bay, Misty (and favorite son-in-law, Michael) Mrotek of Green Bay; daughter-in-law, Sarah Matthews of Manitowoc; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Bryanna, Blaine, Willow, Aspen, Caleb, Christian, Lily, Athena; Brooke, Christina, Hope, Cheyenne, Daniel Jr., Hazyl, Vylet; David, Randal, Johnathan, and Benjamin; brother, Joseph “Joe” (Linda) Rockwell of Sturgeon Bay; three sisters-in-law, Connie Rockwell, Denise (Rick) Krowiorz, Susan (Steve) Nass; many dear nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death were her parents, Leo and Dode Rockwell; husband, Francis “Frank” Copus; son, Daniel Matthews Sr., grandson, Cody Sprang (14 yrs); and brother, Roger; in-laws, Verlin and Ethel Rusch; brother-in-law, Steven Rusch; infant sister-in-law, Annette Rusch.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 25, 2022 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Pastor Jed Manders of Hope Community Church in Manitowoc.
