Michael James Roatch, 83, of De Pere, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.
He was born November 15, 1942 in Madison, son of the late Theodore and Faye Roatch. Mike graduated from Pittsville High School in 1961 before enlisted in the United States Navy, and then later in the United States Army. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1965 and in the U.S. Army from 1973 until 1974. Mike was a proud member of the American Legion where he served as past Post and County Commanders and other offices. He was also a member of the Fond du Lac Navy Club.
Mike was employed as an automotive repair mechanic for over 32 years. In retirement, he worked as a self-employed handyman.
On February 12, 1966, Mike and Rosalie Ann Margaret Martinson were united in marriage at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay, WI Together they shared 44 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on May 12, 2011.
Mike was a previous member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay, past Boy Scout, and a member of United Auto Workers (UAW). He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. Mike had a passion for woodworking and loved his motorcycles and Corvette. He also enjoyed a lively game of cribbage and Phase 10. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Mike will be missed by his children, Lynn Root, Pamela Mielke, Elena (Derek) Remington, and Alexander (Whitney) Root-Roatch; daughter-in-law, Amara Roatch; grandchildren, Isaac, Trenton, Tyler, Tanner, Hunter, Cole, Sydney, and Megan; brother, Fred (Melanie) Roatch; and sisters, Penny (Mike) Smart, and Patricia (John) Klein.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosalie Roatch; son, Douglas Roatch; brother, Tom Savage; and sisters, Ramona Winters and Julie Roatch.
Mike's life will be honored with a sharing of memories service and military honors on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at 4:00 pm at COTTER FUNERAL HOME, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, WI 54115.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Cotter Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 3:50 pm.
