Obituary
Maynard George Gunnlaugsson, Jr., 61, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, April 28, 2022.
He was born May 24, 1960 on Washington Island, son of the late Maynard George and Nora Lillian (Sando) Gunnlaugsson. Maynard graduated from Southern Door High School with the Class of 1979. He married Penny Lea Lautenbach. Maynard was an avid outdoorsman, a member of the Bitters Club, and enjoyed a good old-fashioned, both making them and drinking them.
Maynard will be missed by his wife, Penny; three sons, Maynard (Megan) III, Mack (Katie Rose), and Michael (fiancée, Jessica Joniaux); grandchildren, Lukas, Hailey, Emmett, and Oliver; five sisters and their families, Lillian (Larry) Justice, Martina (Rip) Koken, Jeanie (Larry) Young, Maynette (Tim) Jutila, and Kathy (Jim Lindgren) Gunnlaugsson; mother-in-law, Mary Herlache; stepsons, TJ (Heidi) and Jeffrey (Courtney Weidner) Lautenbach; step-grandchildren, Lanie, Greenlee, Craven, Madelyn, Phoenix, and Selma; and the mother of his children, Lori Gunnlaugsson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Carl Herlache.
A Celebration of Maynard’s Life will be announced at a later date.
