Mary Jane Winkka Obituary

     Mary Jane Winkka, 95, of Fish Creek, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021 at Pine Crest Village in Sturgeon Bay.

     She was born May 12, 1926 in Marquette, Michigan. daughter of the late Charles Bruce and Lillian F (Hartvigh) Madden. Mary Jane grew up in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School. She married Harold Mitchell Winkka in Marquette in 1947. Later, they moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin and raised their family there. After their retirement, Mary Jane and Harold permanently relocated to Fish Creek, Wisconsin in Door County. Mary Jane was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor. She was a fashionable lady who enjoyed her large collection of hats. She was a talented knitter and crafter and sold her creations at various stores throughout Door County. She enjoyed traveling to Gulf Shores, Alabama with Harold for many years during their retirement.

     Mary Jane will be deeply missed by her children, Judith Bougie, David Winkka, and Bruce Winkka; grandchildren, Eric (Tatyana) Bougie, Heidi (Christopher) Odness, Natalie Cohen, and Chad (Jennifer) Winkka; several great-grandchildren; and dear friends, Sally, Hildegard, Sue, Teri, Betty, Marilyn, Pastor Gary, and many others.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lillian Madden and husband, Harold Winkka.

     Private services will be held and Mary Jane will be laid to rest in Park Cemetery in Marquette, Michigan with her husband.

     The family wishes to thank the staff at Pine Crest Village and Cardinal Ridge Residential for their care for Mary Jane in her last years.
