Marvin George Schinktgen, 86 years, of Sturgeon Bay in the Town of Nasewaupee, was called home Tuesday, December 23, 2025 peacefully while at home surrounded by his family.
He was born September 7, 1939 on the Schinktgen homestead. Marivn is the son of the late John and Leona (Keck) Schinktgen. He went through the 8th grade before being called to work on the family farm. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves. After his time in the service, he returned to the family farm to continue the work he loved.
On December 9, 1967 he married Charlene Ann Vandertie at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brussels. One year later they purchased the Schinktgen family homestead and continued to operate the dairy farm established in 1883. Together the couple ran the farm, and raised their family.
Marvin was a master welder, working for the County, Bay Ship, and later when he sold the cows, he worked at Exact Tech until he reached retirement. He was a hardworking man who loved the history of his family farm and land. Throughout his life he enjoyed motorcycle racing and riding, restoring old tractors, trucks and cars. He had the ability to fix anything, was creative with his steel craft, and had the knowledge to make any idea come to life. He had a passion for nature and enjoyed everything from cutting wood to heat the house, hunting or walking in the woods, taking in nature. He had a creative mind and was always able to dream up a project from making smaller trinkets, to designing and building his daughter's horse stable interior.
Marvin had a love for horses. Participating in local parades with his farm raised and trained oxen, ponies and horses, igniting his children's love for animals, horses and showmanship. Marvin enjoyed taming wild animals such as hawks, crows, raccoons and more.
He was always the first to offer to help if anyone needed anything and put other’s needs before his own. Marvin enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others including teaching his grandchildren how to do many life skills including shooting a gun and driving a tractor just to name a few. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his many talents, and his passion for caring for his family and friends.
Marvin was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and Door Devils Motorcycle Club.
