Marion M. (Auman) Cushman Obituary

     Marion M (Auman) Cushman, 93 of Claybanks Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the Pete and Jelaine Horton Skilled Nursing and Hospice Care Center in Sturgeon Bay, WI.

     Marion was born Feb 21, 1927 in Marinette, WI, the daughter of the late Earl and Margaret (Creamer) Frink. After graduating from Marinette High School in 1945, she attended St Luke’s School of Nursing in Racine WI and received her RN degree after completing her residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL in 1948. Marion served as a lieutenant cadet from 1945 through 1948.

     On September 18, 1948, she married John T. Auman in Madison, WI. John and Marion lived in Racine (where Marion worked at St. Luke’s Hospital), Gardena, CA and Washington, MI (where Marion worked as head nurse in the cardiac step-down critical care unit for Pontiac St. Joseph Mercy Hospital). John and Marion had a family of four children. In 1988 Marion retired with her husband, John to their home on Lake Michigan just south of Sturgeon Bay. John predeceased Marion in death on September 25,1994.

     Marion was a welcoming, accepting and vivacious women with a quick smile. She loved living on the lake, observing and being in nature, books, painting, art, traveling, Wisconsin sports teams, golf, listening to classical music, and was an exceptional cook. Marion had been an active member of the Door County PEO chapter and a member of the United Methodist Church.

     In February of 2004, she married Donald Cushman and enjoyed his company until his death on May 14, 2020.

     Surviving family include her three remaining children, Thomas (Tom) (Constance Wentworth) Auman of Indianapolis, IN, Paul (Jean-Marie) Auman of Marietta, GA, Elizabeth (Liz) DeBoni of Chicago, IL; daughter-in-law, Barbara Auman (Widow of her son, John Auman) of Marietta, GA; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with one on the way; brother, William (Bill) of Whitefish Bay, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

     Preceding Marion in death are her parents, Earl and Margaret Frink; husband, John; her dear son, John (1997); sister, Patricia Valley (2019); and husband, Donald.

     The family would like to thank those at the skilled nursing center for both for their compassion and care of Marion.

     There will be a private family memorial to celebrate Marion’s life.

     In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Pete and Jelaine Horton Skilled Nursing and Hospice Care Center.
