Kirk Matthew Volkmann

Kirk Matthew Volkmann, 56, of Valmy, passed away on March 22, 2025, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born August 21, 1968, in Sturgeon Bay, the son of Kenneth Julius and Carol Catherine (Junion) Volkmann. Kirk attended Sevastopol High School graduating with the class of 1986.

Kirk was  married to Samantha Ford and had two children, Kyle and Kambria. On October 23, 1999 Kirk would marry Stacey Henkel and had one daughter, Ella.

He was known for his quick wit, brutal honesty and his sarcastic remarks.

Kirk was owner and operator of Valmy Happy Hour for 35 years. He also worked for Portside Construction, Borkovetz Builders and was a roofer for K&S Construction.

He was President of the Wisconsin Tavern League, a member of area softball leagues, and an avid fundraiser for the Special Olympics. Kirk enjoyed camping and salmon fishing. He loved attending the stock car races where he cheered on his brother-in-law, George, and nephew Gary.

Kirk will be missed by his wife, Stacey; son, Kyle (Amy) Volkmann; daughters, Kambria (special friend, Hunter) Volkmann, and Ella Volkmann; grandchildren, Hadley and Jack Volkmann and Arthur Werth; siblings, Kim (Gary) Schopf, Konnie Gordon, Kris Volkmann, Keith (Mary) Volkmann; brother-in-law, George (Julie) Henkel; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Kevin Volkmann.

A Mass will be prayed on Friday, April 4, 2025, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Institute, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Matthew Rappl officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Huehns Funeral Home. A Parish Wake Service will conclude the evening at 8:45 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made in Kirk's name to Sevastopol Pioneer Athletic Booster Club (SPABC) (4550 Hwy 57, Sturgeon Bay WI 54235).
