Kim M. Burns, 63, of Baileys Harbor, passed away Monday, May 30, 2022 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay after complications following a stroke the week prior.
She was born April 1, 1959, in Algoma, the daughter of the late Harold and Delores “Tootie” (Sternard) Kiehnau. Kim graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1977.
In February of 1979, she married Robert Carl “Louie” Oldenburg. They had two children, Kasey, and Robert. He preceded her in death March 22, 1994. On May 21, 2005, she married David “Dave” R. Burns in Baileys Harbor.
Kim was self-employed and owned and operated TLC cleaning for most of her working life. She was a dedicated EMS technician with the Baileys Harbor rescue and its water rescue team. She would also help out Jacksonport EMRs when she was able. She would help anyone who needed anything!
Kim was known as “Nana” to some and “MaMa” to everyone. She loved gardening and schooling David on how and where to plant along with riding her scooter. She was well known for her famous Potato Salad! She was selfless, giving, and kind. Kim was always thinking of others before herself. Being community minded, she served on her church council at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor and worked the voting polls as elections supervisor.
Kim will be missed by her husband, David; children, Kasey (Scott Williams) Oldenburg, Robert (Haley Adams) Oldenburg, Jennie (Brett) Harrington, Jason Burns; seven grandchildren, Isla, Abby, Zoey, Gabbie, Payton, Eric (Kristen), Ryan (Julie), and another on the way; three great-grandchildren, Ada, Jessa, Jackson, and one on the way; siblings, Sharon Honold, twin sister, Kay (Mike) Hanna of Port Macquarie, Australia, Dale (Miriam) Kiehnau, Verlin (Lois) Kiehnau; sister-in-laws, Joan Oldenburg and Kay Wolter; mother-in-law, Carol Williams; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Tootie Kiehnau; and husband, Robert C. “Louie” Oldenburg.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor with Pastor Gary Scharrig officiating. Burial will be in Baileys Harbor Town Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Huehns Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
County honors will be provided by Baileys Harbor Fire Department and EMS along with Door County Representatives.
