Karen Marie (Theis) Moore

Karen Marie Moore, 83, of Sturgeon Bay, died unexpectedly on March 12, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

She was born July 18, 1942 on the Arthur Herison Farm in the Town of Lincoln; the daughter of the late William and Mary (Herison) Theis. After graduating from Casco High School, she pursued her nursing education and received her LPN from a Green Bay vocational school. Karen worked at Algoma Memorial Hospital and St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, then Dorchester Nursing Center in Sturgeon Bay for over 30 years. She retired in 2020.

Karen married Robert Leon Moore April 25, 1974 in Sturgeon Bay. She was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute. Karen enjoyed traveling, competitive horse racing with her husband, was a great cook, and took pleasure in corresponding with cards and letters to friends and family, knitting, word search books, and making puzzles. Karen enjoyed attending events her son Wayne competed in. She had a love for life and will be greatly missed.

Her family includes: her son, Wayne (significant other, Jamie Carothers), two sisters, Kathryn (Larry) Berkovitz of Bellevue, and Dianne (Rick) Gordon of Manitowoc, and extended family.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert Moore (2008); her parents, William and Mary Theis; infant daughter, Wendy; two sisters, Jeanette Sperber, Patricia Eckert; and one brother, Robert Theis.

Family and friends of Karen may call on Monday evening, March 23, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 52435 and on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Matthew Rappl officiating. Burial will follow at Bayside Cemetery in the Town of Sevastopol.
