June Schram Obituary

June Marie Schram, age 68 of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at her home with her sister, Pam and cousin, Karin at her side.

She was born on June 1, 1956, to the late Martin "Gene" and Betty (Krueger) Schram in Sturgeon Bay.

She was a 1974 graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School. After high school, she continued her education at the American Beauty College and graduated in 1976. June began her career in cosmetology at the Pompadour Beauty Salon and eventually purchased the business. She ended her career at the Clipper's Mate Salon. Her work continued out of the salon as June would style hair for clients at local nursing homes and area funeral homes.

June had a sense of adventure. She traveled the world to places like Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji Islands, England, France, Caribbean Islands and Mexico. When she wasn't exploring, she was cheering on the Green Bay Packers as a season ticket holder and an usherette at Lambeau Field. She was a two-time winner of the "Pickle Crunch Time Catch" at Lambeau field and caught a glove from Reggie White. June's Packer cheers will go down in history.

June was an avid gardener with a remarkable green thumb. During the past summer, she and Pam perfected her salsa recipe. June's exceptional gardening skills earned her multiple ribbons at the Door County Fair for her beautiful plants.

This karate black belt holder also received the Head Start Community Volunteer award at Sturgeon Bay for the 2023-2024 year. She was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where she volunteered as an usherette. June's generosity and commitment to giving back to her community were hallmarks of her character, often prioritizing the needs of others before her own.

Family was paramount to June, and although she did not have children of her own, her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews received unwavering love and support from their devoted Aunt Junie. June embodied a free-spirited nature, embracing her independence and lively personality, which could effortlessly illuminate a room and bring humor to most situations. While her outgoing demeanor might have suggested otherwise, June was also introspective and possessed a subtle, unexpected wisdom. She lived life in her own charming way. June was one of a kind. She will be greatly missed by family and friends and all who crossed her path.

June's family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff from Unity Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care.

June is survived by her sister, Pam DeMelle; brother-in-law, Dean Gigot; sister-in-law, Nancy Schram; nieces, Yvette (Mike) Tice [and their son, Tanner], and Kelly (Austin Kiehnau) Gerl [and her children, Pierce and Elise Gerl]; nephew, Brandon (Sara) Gigot [and their children, Theo and Madeline].

She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin "Gene" and Betty Schram; brothers, Harold and Marty Schram; sister, Mary Gigot; and nephew, Kyle DeMelle.

A memorial service for June will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church (108 W Maple St, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235) with Rev. Carl Schroeder officiating.
