Joseph Flesia Obituary

Joseph Raymond Flesia, 60, of Green Bay, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020.

He was born May 20, 1959 in Los Angeles, CA, son of Donald John Flesia and the late Marlene Anna (Martino) Flesia and twin brother to John. Joe and John attended special education in Algoma and worked on the family farm – milking cows and driving the tractors. The boys participated in the Special Olympics for many years, succeeding in running track and shot put. Joe worked at the Sunshine House as a socket wirer from March of 1993 until August of 2019, which he truly loved and had a passion for. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay and was a member of the YMCA. Joe enjoyed bowling, swimming, puzzles, computer games, taking walks with his father and brother, and climbing the Potawatomi State Park Observation Tower regularly.

Joe will be missed by his father, Donald Flesia; twin brother, John Flesia; cousins, Dan (Phyllis) Martino, Joe (Julie) Martino, Cathy (Joe) Perse, Annette (Gary) Jennrich, Annamarie Klatt, and Heddamarie (Scott) Hiles; long-term caregivers; beloved friends; and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marlene.

Joe’s life will be honored with a funeral service on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Visitation for family and friends will begin at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. and continue until the time of service.

Joe will be laid to rest next to his mom at All Saints Cemetery in Pleasant Prairie, WI on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.

Joe’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Sunshine House and Joe’s caregivers for the love, compassion, and support throughout his life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Sunshine House.
