John "Jack" Mallien Obituary

     John “Jack” Emil Mallien, 82, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the Jack and Engrid Meng Hospice Residence in De Pere.

     He was born February 2, 1939 in Sturgeon Bay, son of the late Anton “Tony” J. and Mary A. (Moreau) Mallien. After graduating from Southern Door High School with the Class of 1957, Jack went on to attend the Milwaukee School of Engineering. On April 16, 1959, Jack and Kathryn Lienau were wed and the two were blessed with five children. He worked as a chief engineer, sailing the Great Lakes and beyond. Upon retiring, Jack moved back to Sturgeon Bay. He lived on 100 acres on Strawberry Creek, farming, hunting, fishing, and enjoying the riches of the land. Jack always welcomed his family and friends to enjoy the land he so loved.

     Jack will be missed by his children, Mike (Linda) Mallien of Sturgeon Bay, Jaime Mallien of Traverse City, Michigan, Mary (John) Helms of Sarasota, Florida, and Anna Mallien of Frankfort, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Nancy Mallien; grandchildren, Zoe Bone, Rachel Bone, Jesse Bone, Brent Mallien, Phill Ranker, Tracie Guydos, Brittani Henderson, Christopher Mallien, Leslie Mayo, Peter Murray, Payton Herschberger, Amber Herschberger, and Aaron Herschberger; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Joan Uhyrek, Joseph Mallien, Anthony Mallien, Mary Jacques, and Robert Mallien; many nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Arthur.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Mary Mallien; son, John Mallien; siblings; Joyce Jewell and James Mallien.

     Jack’s life will be honored with a memorial service on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Huehns Funeral Home at 3:30 p.m.

     Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

     The family wishes to extend a thank you to Unity Hospice, other caregivers, family, and friends for their compassion, kindness, love, and heartfelt prayers.
