John P. Zawadzki, 59 years, of Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin and Hoffman Estates, Illinois passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 1, 2023, after a sudden illness at Door County Medical Center Emergency Department.
He was born July 8, 1964 in Oak Park, Illinois, son of the late Walter and Shirley (Choisser) Zawadzki. John graduated from Lyons Township High School in 1982. For most of his professional career, he worked as a service technician until his recent retirement.
On September 26, 1986, he married Laura A. Ricciuti in Chicago, Illinois. They were blessed with two children and enjoyed Door County for the past 40 years, having recently finished building their Door County home.
John enjoyed any activity on the water, especially fishing. He loved his cats and enjoyed golfing. John was practical and spoke his mind. Always ready with a bad joke to tell, he lived in the moment, enjoying life day by day. As a father and husband, he was protective, loved his family deeply and enjoyed good friends.
Surviving are his wife, Laura; two children, Nicole (Daniel Moore) of San Diego, CA and Daniel of Hoffman Estates, IL; two sisters, Jill (Robbin) White of Savannah, Georgia and Jane Stiles (Greg Allison) of Genoa, IL.
There will be no public services. If you wish to honor John, please donate to the Wisconsin Humane Society - Door County Campus.
Huehns Funeral Home, Inc. & Door County Crematory LLC of Sturgeon Bay are assisting family with arrangements.
“We are so deeply saddened at our loss of John and the suddenness of it. We were looking forward to retirement together, enjoying our Door County home. We are grateful for the 37 years of marriage and having a supportive father always there loving and defending us. To say we will miss him is an understatement, but there is part of him in all of us who knew and loved him and that gives us comfort.”
