Jeffrey Lee Borkovetz, 57, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025 at The Village of Eden Vista in the Village of Allouez.
He was born on March 11, 1968 in Two Rivers, the youngest of eight children, to Robert Frank and Esther Ann (Dax) Borkovetz.
With a family of seven siblings, the good Lord knew he would have to make Jeff special in order for him to stand out in such a crowd, and special he was. Jeff enjoyed being the life of all family gatherings where his musical talent entertained everyone and even gathered the attention of Kenny Rogers at one of his shows. He loved weddings and dancing, and always found a way to end up with the microphone. He was always the DJ at family Christmas celebrations and at his nieces’ and nephews’ graduation parties. He traveled with his many sleeves of CDs and his boom box and karaoke machines. Johnny Cash, June Carter, Kenny Rogers, and Elvis Presley were his favorites. In his younger years, he enjoyed a Graceland bus tour vacation through Memphis with his mom. He played many musical instruments, including the keyboard, harmonica, recorder, tambourine, and the spoons.
In June 1990, Riverside School in Lee County, FL awarded Jeff a high school graduation special diploma "prescribed for exceptional students."
Jeff was the inspiration of his parents, Bob and Esther, along with Carl Scholz and many other parents, seeking a better opportunity for children with special needs in the community. With local support in 1971, Sunshine House (now known as Sunshine Resources) was started. Jeff worked and grew along with Sunshine House for some 30 years. Jeff won over everyone's hearts and wore his emotions on his sleeve for all to see. He needed to impress no one but unknowingly he warmed the hearts of those who knew him. God Bless you, Jeff!
Jeff loved a good meal. When he went out to a restaurant, he always asked for a Big Mac, French fries with cheese curds, and the all-you-can-eat special...and to “Make it Snappy”. Always having a strategy, he loved to sweep, shovel snow, and rake leaves for hours. He was an avid Packers fan and kept busy doing Legos and sorting computer papers. He enjoyed bowling and being around family and friends.
Most of all, Jeff loved his birthday and celebrated the entire month of March. He proudly shared, “I was born in 1968!” When he grew up, he wanted to build houses like his brothers.
“We are very grateful to The Village at Eden Vista staff and St. Croix Hospice nurses for the wonderful care they provided Jeff in his final months.”
Jeff was proud of each and every one of his family, both individually and as a whole. He cherished the time gathered together and had fun; those were by far Jeff's best days! Jeff will be missed by his siblings, Tom (Julie), Jerry (Sally), Sandy (David), Bob (Barb), Rick (Heidi), Ken (Janel), and John (Laura); many nieces and nephews, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 on Saturday, November 15, 2025, followed by the procession to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 811 W. Juniper Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 for the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Jeff will be laid to rest near his parents in the St. Joseph Mausoleum in the Town of Sevastopol.
