To my family, relatives, and friends, just to let you know, after enjoying a long and enjoyable life of 95 years, I left on Sunday, August 24, 2025 for the Mystery Trip of a lifetime. It is not the same of the Mystery Trips offered in the travel brochures.
This trip being very exclusive. No passport required. Travelers insurance and travelers checks are not needed.
On this being a one-way trip, there will be no postal service - post cards, email, nor texting. No baggage to carry and no frequently used phrases in a foreign language to remember.
I leave behind my daughter, Barbara Smejkal-Guzy of San Antonio Texas; three grandchildren, Ann Smejkal, Adam Smejkal, and Jordan Smejkal-Guzy; and other relatives.
My parents, Leo and Katherine (nee Toonen) Jordan; husband, Roland; children, Randy Smejkal and Suzanne Smejkal; are already there waiting for me.
Roland and I were able to share over 61 years of marriage from when we were married on May 5, 1951 at the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church, until his passing on December 14, 2012.
After the kids were of school age, I kept busy by serving along with Roland at the Department of Agriculture, University of Wisconsin USDA Research Station, just north of Sturgeon Bay, in the Town of Sevastopol. Jean continued her career in research as laboratory technician for the Department of Agriculture, University of Wisconsin, USDA Potato Introduction Project at the Research Station. I retired from there in 1990 after 25 years.
I enjoyed watching the animals, tending to my garden, painting folk art, quilting and other crafts, and keeping up on my genealogy.
No service will be held. I will be laid to rest beside Roland in the columbarium at Nicolet Memorial Gardens in the Town of Scott.
Arrangements have been entrusted with Huehns Funeral Home, Inc. & Door County Crematory LLC in Sturgeon Bay. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos from my life may be shared with my family through my tribute page at www.HuehnsFuneralHome.com.
So, with much anticipation and until we meet again.
Adios, au revoir and auf wiedersehen.
Love,
Jeanie
