Janice Marie (nee, Brauer) Peterson, 86, of Sturgeon Bay passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
She was born August 23, 1938 at the family farm in Institute, daughter of the late John P. and Laura Mary (nee, DeMeuse) Brauer. Jan graduated from Sevastopol High School. She married Dancel Kenneth Peterson on September 11, 1954 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Institute. Together they owned and operated Door County Cycles for 20 years and Second Showing Resale for 20 years. Jan officially retired in 2011. In her younger years, she excelled in acrobats and twirling. She was the first student of Mary Jane Van Duyse and Curly Lambeau. Jan loved traveling and riding motorcycles, even owning and riding her own. She was also a Bingo enthusiast. Later in life, the little things had more importance - spending time with her grandchildren, taking a long drive, and simply looking at the night sky. Jan was always there for everyone and would drop everything if called upon. Jan was a parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and later was a member of Christians Gathered onto The Name of The Lord Jesus Christ.
Jan will be missed by her children, Steven Peterson of Sturgeon Bay, Dan (Tracy Delsart) Peterson of Dyckesville, and Gail (Robert) Tice of Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren, Keith Peterson, Jaclyn Jeanquart, Nicole (Casey) Rabach, Quin (Tonya) Peterson, Chip Peterson, Robin (Jason) Nasman, Brittany (Matt) Solchenberger, Brooke (Lucas) Petrie, Amy (Omar) Guillen, and Randy Tice; step-granddaughters, Christine (Randy) Eng and Alise (Dan) Krueger; great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Marina, Sydney, and Grant Jeanquart, Alana, Porter, and Siena Rabach, Finnik Rentmeester, Camille, Guinevere, and baby Peterson, Ian and Aneliese Nasman, Mariah McFeely, Lakelyn and Blake Solchenberger, Raena and baby boy Petrie, and Kaia Tice; brothers, Jerry (Sue) Brauer, Bob (Chris) Brauer, Dale Brauer, and Ken (Judy) Brauer; sisters, Diane (Wayne) Lautenbach and Linda Madden; sisters-in-law, Shirley Brauer, Rita Wartner, and Alice Peterson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other extended relatives.
