Jack VanCaster Obituary

Jack Joseph VanCaster, 89, of Spokane Valley, WA, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, WI, passed away in the comfort of his home Monday afternoon, November 10, 2025 with family at his side.

He was born December 17, 1935 in Green Bay, WI, the Son of Theodore and Mary Margaret (Deno) VanCaster. Jack grew up in Green Bay. He served his country with the United States Air Force, entering in active duty on July 8, 1955. After basic training he was assigned to the 343rd Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squad, stationed in Duluth, MN. He was honorably discharged from active service on July 7, 1959 with the rank of Airman Second Class.

Jack married Chlorist Joanne Burns on May 28, 1960 in Duluth, MN. Together, they resided in St. Louis Park and Eden Prairie, MN. He was initially employed as a dental technician with a dental laboratory out of Minneapolis, MN. He and Joanne moved to Door County, WI in 1970 and resided in Sturgeon Bay. Jack started his own dental prosthetic devices company, VanCaster Dental Laboratory and remained self-employed until his retirement in 2000. He was also secondarily employed for several years as a standby bridge tender in Sturgeon Bay. Jack and Joanne were blessed with nearly 53 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2013.

Throughout his life Jack enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, and earned both a pilots and an advanced Ham radio license. He was a a lifelong Packer Fan and was proud of his Belgian heritage.

Jack will be missed by his daughter, Lisa (Kevin) McMulkin of Spokane Valley, WA; granddaughters, Megan Christian, Julie McMulkin, Wendy McMulkin, and Anna McMulkin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; children, Timothy VanCaster and Margaret VanCaster; siblings, Ronald VanCaster and Rose Marie Beno.

Jack's life will be honored privately by family. He will be laid to rest beside his wife, Joanne, in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum in the Town of Scott, WI.
