Franklin "Frank" W. Bley, 93 years of West Jacksonport, was called home Saturday December 24, 2022, Christmas Eve, while at home on his family farm with his dear family at his side.
He was born November 6, 1929 in West Jacksonport on the family homestead of August and Lydia (Herbst) Bley. He attended Sevastopol High School before serving his country with the U.S. Army. On June 17, 1961 he married Gloria A. Haberli at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport. Together they continued operating the Bley family farm and raised their five children there. She preceded him in death December 14, 2018.
Frank was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport. Frank was a humble man who loved his family and being grandpa to his grandchildren. He was always in for a good card game of hand and foot and looked forward to winter hunting seasons, especially coyote hunting with his buddies. Frank had a lot of pride for his community and served on the Jacksonport Town Board as Supervisor and Town Chairman during the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Frank played for the Jacksonport Ports Baseball Team and enjoyed attending their games each Sunday at Jacksonport.
Surviving family includes five children, Faye Bley, William (Patty) Bley, Gail (Chuck) Nelson, Amy (Tom) Ash, Carrie (Brian) Peterson; twelve grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; sister, Marcella Giesseman; brothers, Dennis (Mary) Bley, and Lee Bley; sister-in-law, Audrey Hembel; many, many dear nieces and nephews; and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, August and Lydia Bley; his wife, Gloria Ann; four brothers, Wallace (LaVerne), Nicholas (Lorna), Gordon (Eunice) Bley, and Curtis (Fran) Bley; three brothers in-law, Donald Giesseman, Joseph (MaryLou) Haberli, and Darrell Hembel.
Funeral services are planned for 10:30 a.m., Friday at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport with Rev. Peter Lindemann officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at the church Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m. A devotion will be held at 6:45 p.m. Thursday evening at Huehns Funeral Home.
