Francine L. Roza passed away August 31, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Francine Garaffo on March 12, 1945 in Chicago, IL, the eldest of five children. Francine graduated from Chicago Teacher’s College, and on May 15, 1964, she married Kenneth Roza. Fran and Ken made their home in Crystal Lake, IL, where she put her heart and soul into raising their four children. In her 76 years, she shared legendary homemade meals and sweet treats, seasoned with immeasurable love and kindness, with their large family and dear friends. She cultivated a beautiful garden at her Egg Harbor home and made fresh grapefruit juice and limoncello from the fruit trees during winters at their Tampa home. Even from afar, Fran was nurturing her twelve grandchildren and many friendships.
Francine is survived by Kenneth, her loving husband of 57 years; four children [and twelve grandchildren], Ken Roza (Shari) [their children, Courtney Miller (Cedric) and Ben], Scott Roza (Marguerite) [their children, Holland, Anabel, Ellie, and Adeline], Nicole Havlin (Jason) [their children, Lauren and Matthew], and Melissa Currie (Michael) [their children, Mackenzie, Zak, Stephanie, and Whitney]. She is also survived by sisters and brother, Lisa (Mark) Jason, Peter (Francine) Garaffo, and Nina (Mike) Snooks; sister-in-law, Joanne Roza; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Peter and Violet Garaffo; sister, Celeste; father and mother-in-law, Stanley and Millie Roza; and brother-in-law, Ronald Roza.
Fran loved spending her summers in Door County. She was a Master Gardener (often plotting crafty ways to keep plant-eating critters away from the flowers) and had a gift for cooking amazing meals for those she loved. Her home and kitchen were always open with fresh baked treats and tea on offer for all who visited. She was a woman of great beauty, and her home was a place of love for all who entered. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
