Evelyn Rita Havel, 82, of Sturgeon Bay, was called Home on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay.

She was born on the family farm in Rosiere on April 8, 1939, daughter of the late Louie and Agnes (Stache) Massart. Evelyn graduated from Casco High School with the Class of 1956. It was there that she met the love of her life, Jerome Joseph Havel. The two were united in marriage on June 7, 1958 at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Rosiere. She worked at Piggly Wiggly as Produce Manager, Pick n Save at the courtesy counter, and at C & S Manufacturing as a machinist. Evelyn and Jerome were members of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Maplewood. The two enjoyed camping, boating, and taking bus trips together. Evelyn also loved wordsearch and jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.

Evelyn will be missed by her loving husband of 63 years, Jerome; children, Julie (Joseph) Trinkner and Terry (Vickie) Havel; grandchildren, Joshua Bordeau, Nicholas (Taylor) Havel, Matthew (Hanna) Bordeau, and Nathan Havel (special friend, Taylor Frando); great-grandchildren, Brynleigh Ash, Ross Havel, Brantley Havel, Vernon Havel, and Ren Bordeau; sisters-in-law, Joyce LaCrosse and JoAnn Havel; brother-in-law, Wayne Hafeman; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Agnes Massart; brother, Harvey (Peggy) Massart; brothers-in-law, Bob Havel and Dale LaCrosse; and sister-in-law, Priscilla Hafeman.

Evelyn’s life will be honored with a private Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Maplewood. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Algoma Long Term Care Unit and Door County Medical Center for their care and compassion shown toward Evelyn.
