Ethel E. Christianson, 73, a lifelong resident of the Southern Door community, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday morning, December 31, 2024.
Born to Rita (Cochenet) and Elmer Starr, Sr., Ethel spent her entire life in Southern Door County, a community she cherished deeply. She attended East Maplewood School and graduated from Southern Door High School in 1969. She devoted most of her life to being a mother and homemaker. She not only had one green thumb but two of them, finding joy in creating her large gardens, tending to her fruit and floral trees until her health made it too difficult a job to handle. She was passionate about caring for her beloved animals and spending precious time with her grandchildren-who lovingly called her "GMA". These moments brought her great happiness until her illness made it too difficult to continue her activities.
Ethel had a love for music all through her life. Her favorite artist most recently, hands down (and louder for those in the back), David Archuleta. Anyone able to know her in these past few years has been introduced to David in one fashion or another. It may have been that she played a song of his for you, or you may have seen her wearing one of the many shirts her daughters have made for her bearing his image or name.
Ethel will be missed by her four children, Colleen (Chris) Michiels, Randi (Eric) Haszel, Donny Christianson, Shannon Christianson, all of the Southern Door area. She also leaves behind, ten cherished grandchildren, Brandon (Kori) Zunker, Dawson Christianson, Zackrey Christianson, Christopher and Kaytlin Jost, Christopher and Brinlee Michiels, Isaac Haszel, Payge Bochek, and Saydee Bauldry. She is further survived by her siblings, Kim (Dawn) Starr, Bart (Laurie) Starr, Rob (Penny) Starr, and Penny Delorit; nieces; nephews; other family; and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Barbara Ryan and Ann Fameree; and brother, Elmer Starr, Jr.
A celebration of her life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday evening, January 7, 2025, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home on Tuesday after 5:00 p.m. until the service of remembrance at 7:00 p.m. The family would appreciate and warmly invites all who knew Ethel to attend and share their fondest memories of her during the time of remembrance.
"Our family would like to thank the staff, new and old from Davita of Door County, for the many years of kindness given to our mom during the literal hours she spent there each week.
Ethel's spirit and enduring love for her family will be remembered and cherished forever."
