Doris Leona (Miller) Kniffin, 91, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 12, 2024, at Cardinal Ridge Residential Care.
She was born on July 23, 1932, in Louisburg, Kansas, daughter of late William and Pearl (Gaunce) Miller. After her parents took ill, she was raised by her Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle James Lee. Doris was a 1951 graduate of Shawnee Mission High School. On August 11, 1951, she married Joseph Lawrence Kniffin in Overland Park, Kansas. She retired from Bendix Credit Union where she served as manager. After retiring, Doris and Joseph built their dream home and moved to Carlsville, Door County, Wisconsin. She resided there for a few years after Joseph’s death until she made the decision to move to Cardinal Ridge. Doris was a member of the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church.
Doris is survived by her sons, William of Beloit, Michael (Cathi) of Hartland, and Patrick (Amy) of Beloit; six grandchildren, Seth, Thomas, Alex, Ian, Nicole, and Colin; and two great-grandchildren, Mason Alexander Kniffin and Madeline Jo Kniffin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pearl; husband; daughter-in-law, Janice Kniffin, and Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle James Lee, and other relatives.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
