Dennis Leslie Sullivan, 75, of the Town of Sevastopol, WI and also of Lombard, IL, passed away in the comfort of his beloved Door County, WI home with family at his side.
He was born October 24, 1950 in Chicago, IL, the son of Michael W. Sullivan and Rita Shirley (Atreau) Sullivan. Dennis' family eventually moved from the south side of Chicago to Elmhurst, IL. He was raised Catholic and attended Willowbrook High School in Villa Park, IL.
Dennis met Eileen Nora Zarbock (who also grew up in Elmhurst), through their sisters. They were united in marriage on January 29, 1983 at a local Lutheran Church in Elmhurst.
Dennis began his working career for Miller Fluid Power Corporation in Bensenville, IL where he was part of the tool and die staff. A few years later, he went to work for Quaker Tool in Villa Park, IL (and later in Chicago) in 1980. In 1985, Dennis and Eileen, and their daughter, Bonnie, moved to Lombard, IL. He worked for Quaker Tool until 2012.
Dennis and Eileen retired to Door County, WI in 2014, a place they each had come to know and love from visiting over the years.
Dennis was an outdoorsman who enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden. He took pride in maintaining his yard and even created a circle garden. Dennis was an animal lover; his boxers, Rhoda, Otis, and Stella had a special place in his heart.
He will be missed by his wife, Eileen, with whom he shared over 42 years of marriage and 58 years of friendship and companionship; daughter, Bonnie (Michael Ensalaco) Sullivan; siblings; siblings-in-law; nieces and nephews; and other relatives.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; and other relatives. No formal services will be held. Dennis' life will be honored privately by family.
"Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff of Unity Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care you provided and also for the mutual love each of you shared for dogs."
