David "Dave" Geitner, Jr. Obituary

David Brian Geitner, Jr., 37, of Stoughton, formerly of Door County, passed away at home on February 21, 2024.

He was born October 30, 1986, in Green Bay, the son of David Brian Geitner and Lori Ann (Ferron) Geitner. Dave grew up attending Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and School in Institute where he received the Sacraments of Holy Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation. He attended Sevastopol High School where he enjoyed playing football and baseball.

Upon his graduation from Sevastopol High School in 2005, Dave went on to study at Lakeland College in Sheboygan where he continued playing football and also sang in the college choir. While at Lakeland, he made many friends who became like family to him.

Dave enrolled in courses at Northeastern Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay. There he met, Samantha Nealey. They were united in marriage on May 21, 2011, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Green Bay.

Growing up, he helped on the family farm in Carlsville, helped the family business in Baileys Harbor and worked during the summer months at the Yum Yum Tree in Baileys Harbor. Dave was a Grease Monkey at Baril Engines, product stocker at Eileens Candy in Green Bay, and he worked as a forklift operator for Stoughton Trailers where he was presently employed.

He loved baseball ever since he played in his youth. Dave was Grandpa Geitner's little baseball player, and they would enjoy time together at the batting cages. He was a very enthusiastic fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and also loved the Badgers.

Dave loved to make people laugh, a quality that stayed with him his whole life. He had the biggest heart and gave the best hugs. Dave would laugh like Scooby-Doo and would try to one up his father at family gatherings just to make everyone laugh.

He looked up to his mom and dad's relationship and tried to be a good man like his dad. Dave had a very close relationship with his mom, and they would have fun days out where they would go to the movies or out to eat, just to spend time together. He loved his little sister and was happy when he gained a new brother and sister. As a young boy, Dave was the sassy little brother to his aunt, Roberta, where he would run around with her clarinet and jump on her bed whenever she had friends over. He loved his uncle, William, and loved to pick on his uncle, Drew. Dave's cousin, Tyler, was his best friend growing up, and they were best man for each other's weddings.

Dave will be missed by his wife, Samantha; father, David (Penny) Geitner of Carlsville; sister, Kendra Geitner of Michigan; stepsister and stepbrother, Emma Geitner of Carlsville and Joe Davis of Appleton; grandmother, Mary Ferron; parents-in-law, Brice and Cindy Nealey; sister-in-law, Bambi (Brent) Williamson; many aunts and uncles; cousins; and niece and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lori Geitner; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Helen Geitner; maternal grandfather, Clayton Ferron, Jr.; and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 with Dcn. Mark Bortle officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
