Daniel M. Richmond, 59, of Maplewood, passed away Monday morning, August 20, 2018 at Door County Medical Center after suffering an apparent heart attack.
He was born May 10, 1959 in Algoma, the son of the late Harry and Clara (Pelke) Richmond. Dan graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1977.
He was an accomplished landscape architect, operating his own business, N.E.W. Landscape. Currently, Dan was also employed with the Village of Egg Harbor and the landscaping of the village.
Whether it was for the landscape business or recreation, he enjoyed being outdoors. Dan loved hunting, fishing (ice fishing too), was a member of the county’s three hunting and shooting clubs, Rod and Gun, Gardner, and Liberty Grove and shot trap league at each. He was certified in SCUBA and dove the wrecks of the county and other various sites. Dan was a familiar figure at the Sevastopol Alumni Softball Tourney each year and played ball in different leagues over the years.
He is survived by his three siblings, Betty (George) Stanek of Edgerton, Don (Pam) Richmond of Sturgeon Bay and Arlene (Lynn) Dettman of Sturgeon Bay; nieces and nephews and many friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Clara Richmond; and infant brother, Gerald Richmond.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church with Rev. Matthew R. Knapp, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
