Cristine Ann Vana, 52, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Door County Medical Center.
Cristine was born in Carpentersville, IL, on April 2, 1971, to Samuel and Barbara (May) Vana. She graduated from Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville, in 1989. She worked towards a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts at Concordia College, receiving her undergraduate in 1993. She then continued her studies in healthcare, acquiring her CNA and LPN licenses. Cristine previously worked at Sturgeon Bay Health Services and Door County Medical Center, first as an admissions secretary and then as a CNA and LPN until she changed paths and started at Pick ‘n Save and Wal-Mart. She also enjoyed meeting the many people of Door County while working at the front desk for the Landmark Resort and as a delivery driver for Pizza Hut.
Cristine had a strong faith and spirituality. She belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was mom to her many kitties, and she loved to watch movies at home. She had a passion for reading and enjoyed her library time, especially with a hot cup of tea or cocoa.
She will be missed by sisters, Mary Jo Denz of Clearwater, FL and Bonnie (Steven) Leffler of Crystal Lake, IL; aunt, Kate (David) Kuffner of Wilmette, IL and Sturgeon Bay; aunt, Diane Piette of Indianapolis, IN; cousins, Suzanne, Beth, Ilsa, Erik, and Elin; and several nieces and nephews.
Cristine was proceeded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Cristine’s name to Wisconsin Humane Society – Door County campus.
