Cletus Ambrose Schwoerer, 74, of Sturgeon Bay passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at his home in Sturgeon Bay.
He was born November 2, 1950, in Celina, OH, the Son of Albert and Matilda (Eischen) Schwoerer. Cletus graduated from Mount Horeb High School with the class of 1969.
On June 28, 1975, he married Jane Maire Haas. Cletus and Jane lived in Mt Horeb, WI for 42 years, retiring to Sturgeon Bay in 2017. He had worked as a Senior Maintenance Mechanic for Thermo Fischer Scientific in Fitchburg, WI and owned his own business, Cletus's Home Service. He also assisted with the St. Joseph Cemetery Association.
He was a member of St. Joseph Parish, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Alfonse Broens Council 2478, both in Sturgeon Bay, and a member of the Friends of Military Ridge State Trail. Cletus and Jane enjoyed camping and traveling in their RV in retirement. He also enjoyed maintaining their home and yard.
Cletus will be missed by his wife, Jane Schwoerer of Sturgeon Bay; daughter, Amy (David) Phillips of Sturgeon Bay; son, John (Jessica) Schwoerer of Madison; five grandchildren, Mikkel, Riel, and Rafael Phillips, Matthew and Lily Schwoerer; five siblings, Charles (Lois) Schwoerer of Cottage Grove, Donald (Barbara) Schwoerer of Mt. Horeb, Luann Esser of Mt. Vernon, WI, Ben (Lynn) Schwoerer of New Glarus, and Mary Ann Evans of Lone Rock, WI; sister-in-law, Barbara J. Schwoerer, of Verona; the Haas family relatives, Mary Ann (Jim) Delehanty of Cross Plains, Lynn (Jim) Rohowetz of Dodgeville, and Jerry (Ginny) Haas of Cobb, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred Schwoerer; and brother-in-law, Donald Esser.
Cletus' life will be honored with a Mass of Christian Burial prayed on Wednesday April 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay, with Fr. Matthew Rappl as celebrant. Cletus will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in the Town of Sevastopol.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, beginning with the praying of the Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and led by his fellow Knights of Columbus, with visitation continuing until the closing parish wake service at 7:00 p.m., led by Dcn. Mark Bortle. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:40 a.m.
