Carol Ann Hayes

Carol Ann Hayes, 76, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Sturgeon Bay Health Services where she resided the past several years.

She was born May 7, 1947 in Denver, CO, the daughter of Elbert Ray Dougherty and Elva Jean (Randall) Dougherty. Carol attended Georgetown Grade School in Colorado and graduated from Clear Creek High School in Idaho Springs, CO with the class of 1965. She went on to study at Barnes Business College in Denver.

Carol was united in marriage to Wilford "Red" Frank Hayes on September 30, 1968. Together, they resided in Sturgeon Bay until Red's passing on September 1, 1991.

Carol then moved to Las Vegas, NV where her parents were living.

She was a respected, self-employed dog groomer. Families would drive long-distance to have Carol care for their (dogs).

After the passing of her parents, she moved back to Sturgeon Bay.

Carol loved animals, especially dogs and fish. She also liked horses - training, riding, and even providing buggy services. Carol also enjoyed line dancing, playing card games, and bowling.

She will be missed by her son, David Hayes of Kiel; stepson, Raymond Hayes of Denver, CO and LeRoy Hayes of Oklahoma; brother, Richard Dougherty of Idaho Springs, CO; cousin, Dora Brown of Colorado; and other relatives.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Larry and Gary Dougherty; and other relatives.

Her life will be honored by family at a later date.
