Bonnie Kolberg Obituary

Bonnie Kaye Kolberg, 80, of Sturgeon Bay, was called Home to be with the Lord, early Tuesday morning, December 23, 2025 at Bella Vista Assisted Living in Oshkosh.

She was born April 21, 1945 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of Lloyd Albert Grovogel and Dorothy Mae (Maples) Grovogel]. Bonnie grew up attending West Side School and the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church, both in Sturgeon Bay. She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School with the class of 1963.

Bonnie married Allen Lee Strege in 1964. She eventually attended St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Valmy. Bonnie and Allen were blessed with five children and shared 18 years of marriage.

Bonnie married Allen "Big Al" Erwin Kolberg on August 31, 1987 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay where they remained members throughout their married life.

She initially worked as a caregiver for Godfrey Hall in Sturgeon Bay before going to work for Door County Memorial Hospital in Sturgeon Bay. Bonnie was a housekeeper for the Skilled Nursing Facility and retired from DCMH after 25 years there.

She had passion for painting (oftentimes ceramics). Bonnie and Al enjoyed camping together at Frontier Wilderness in the Town of Egg Harbor. Her faith provided a foundation for her life and that of her family's.

Bonnie and Al shared over 35 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2022.

Bonnie will be missed by her children, Robin (Jodi Hruska) Strege of Oshkosh, Julie Zastrow, Janese Wyman, and Brad Strege, all of Neenah; grandchildren, Justin Strege and Natasha Spence-Anderson, Ashlee (Randy) Bonagofsky and Christopher Strege, Alyssa Wyman, and Nicholas Strege; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Nancy (Richard) Moore of Sturgeon Bay, Gary Grovogel of Bangor, ME, and Scott Grovogel of Sturgeon Bay; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband; husband; son, Todd Strege; sister, Sharon Beard; and other relatives.

Bonnie's life will be honored with a memorial service held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. She will be laid to rest in Schumacher Cemetery in the Town of Nasewaupee, beside her husband, Al.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
